Following a deadly collision in Cuyahoga County early on Thursday, traffic on the Ohio Turnpike was backed up.
Around 9:49 a.m., the Ohio State Highway Patrol reports that officers arrived at the scene of a collision on I-80 westbound close to W. 130th Street.
When it was struck by another commercial vehicle, the commercial vehicle, according to investigators, re-entered the roadway from the right shoulder.
The hit-and-run driver passed away as a result of their injuries. The other car’s driver was treated at a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening wounds.
At milepost 164, all westbound lanes were shut down for several hours while workers removed the wreckage. Later, two lanes reopened, although there were still delays for motorists. The inquiry into the collision is still ongoing.
