Chief Hodges remarked, “This is completely ludicrous.” This isn’t very intelligent, I mean. The inquiry is ongoing, and no one has been taken into custody. The police chief begged the suspects to come forward and urged the people not to assist them in any manner.

He warned, “We’re going to lock you in with them if anyone assists these people—I mean so much as buy them a Happy Meal or give them a ride. A gunshot touched an uninvolved bystander’s jacket, Chief Hodges continued, but they were unharmed. Hodges continued by saying that the Mall of America is “examining the idea” of installing metal detectors.

At the mall, injuries have been caused by other gun-related events this year. Crews from 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS are at the Mall of America to collect further data. When more information becomes available, this story will be updated.
