Halloween Movie Guide

By Ricardo Ramirez

Alright since Halloween is coming up, and if you’re anything like me, you’re probably chilling at home all alone watching the best horror movies. If you are clueless on what to watch, then never worry because yours truly has the knowledge to help you I’ve set up a guide to help you get through the holiday. Please sit back and enjoy, and oh don’t get scared. I just remembered most of these are rated “R”, so freshman get out.

Actors Simon Pegg and Nick Frost in “Shaun of the Dead”

Well alrighty, our first stop is the zombie genre, and zombies have been pretty popular as of late, so you’ll have a wide selection from there. But, the ones that stand out have to be the classic Night of the Living Dead,  the great comedic performances in Shaun of the Dead. Anyways the point is there’s a wide selection to choose from and I’ll make a list down below for people who are lost and can’t find any good zombie flicks

  • Night of the Living Dead
  • Dawn of the Dead (1978)
  • Day of the Dead
  • Land of the Dead
  • Dawn of the Dead (2004)
  • Shaun of the Dead
  • The Return of the Living Dead
  • Zombieland
  • 28 days later
  • 28 weeks later
  • Dead Alive
  • Warm Bodies
  • Train to Busan

HAHA most of them have “dead” in the title.

Christopher Lee as the famous character “Dracula”

Alright I’m going to give it to you straight, I hate that up there ↑, I don’t know if i’ve changed it already, but right now it’s a picture of dracula. I don’t even know if he falls into this category. Anyways, sorry for getting off the topic for a second. Okay, Monsters ahh don’t we love them to death. Haha, nice pun right? This genre of horror has been around since the 1930s with Classics like Frankenstein, Dracula, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, and all the way to today with recent releases like Cloverfield, Godzilla, The Babadook. So yeah, monsters have been around for a pretty long while, so there’s bound to have a few great films here or there within the genre. Again I’ll make a list

  • Frankenstein
  • Dracula
  • The Mummy (1932)
  • The Invisible Man
  • Jaws
  • Creature of the Black Lagoon
  • Tremors
  • King Kong
  • The Wolf Man
  • An American Werewolf in London
  • The Fly
  • Gremlins
  • Alien

Alien Invasion

1982 film “The Thing”

Okay, we’ve gone from zombies to monsters. Now let’s talk all about alien invasions, ehhh, Invasion of the Body Snatchers to The Thing. This genre of horror sure has a lot creativity, but pretty much the same concept. Hmm…I’ve run out things to say…I’ll just make list  -_-

  • War of the Worlds
  • Attack the block
  • The Blob
  • Signs
  • Invasion of Body Snatchers (1956)
  • Invasion of Body Snatchers (1976)
  • The World’s End
  • The Thing

Oh wow, my bad; I thought the list would be longer, but there are still really good movies. Be sure to check them out.

Well, that’s all I got T.T (those are tears by the way).
