I know what you’re thinking it’s Pollo again with his Korean stuff, well I know but I feel like there’s so many things to teach you guys about this stuff. Anyways, although I’m not an expert on every k-drama there is, I still have watched a lot, and I made a wonderful list for people who are new to watching K-dramas and having trouble finding good ones or people who are just looking for something good to watch. You can find all these dramas on Dramafever, Viki, Hulu, and many other streaming services. No Ad intended.
The Reply Series (Reply 1997, Reply 1994, and Reply 1988) are some of the best dramas you could ever watch in your lifetime. The reason why is, well, it takes you back man, back to the great old 80’s and 90’s. It does it so well you almost feel like it, it was made during those time periods. Aside from all that, they do really well telling a coming of age story, that I think everyone can relate to, even though it’s set in a completely different country.
Okay this drama stars my two favorite actors Kim Woo-bin and Lee Jong-suk. Anyways this one of the greatest bromances ever put on screen; it literally almost made me cry because it reminds me of my old bro and I. That’s how good it is and explores many issues many schools can relate to like bullying, school violence, teacher-student, and etc, and I’m sure teachers would love this because it gives a pretty good insight of their jobs. Anyways, it’s great; go watch it.
W- Two Worlds
The concept of this show is so awesome, a doctor gets pulled into a webtoon and starts this crazy adventure with the main character of the webtoon. Yeah I know it sounds amazing; anyways this one stars Lee Jong-suk in the male lead, and if you’re a woman, you’ll probably fall in love with him in this drama. This drama is filled with a lot things like action, romance, and mystery so it’s pretty fast paced and has a great story.
As a student currently taking a journalism class, I was very interested in this drama and thank goodness it didn’t disappoint, and yes, again it stars Lee Jong-suk. The drama is about Choi In-ha (played by Park Shin-hye) who suffers from the Pinocchio Syndrome, meaning she can’t lie without hiccuping, but that doesn’t stop her from trying to become a reporter and she tries her best to overcome the obstacle with some help from Choi Dal-po (played by Lee Jong-suk), who has a past which is very interesting to watch and has some plans of his own .
Descendants of the Sun
Ahh yess, everyone fell in love with this drama last year, which is very understandable because it has action, romance, bromance, a great cast, and pretty awesome soundtrack. Anyways, the story revolves around a soldier and medical team and eh um a lot of things happen. It’s hard to explain but from the very first episode you’ll be hooked. I highly recommend this drama if you’ve never watched any k-dramas before.
Who knew a show about snotty rich kids could be so interesting, and I have to say it, the Heirs has the best soundtrack on this list. Anyways, it’s about a rich boy who tries to hook up with this low-class girl (played by Park Shin-hye), but the reason why I like it is because this drama had me rooting for the second male lead (played by Kim Woo-bin), and the tension between him and the male lead (played by Lee Min-ho) is pretty much the best thing about the show and has everyone choosing sides. It also shows the struggles of these rich kids of how yhey need to live up to their families expectations and things like that.
You Who Came the Stars
You Who Came From the Stars, ahhh one of the best titles ever from any media. Well the drama is about an alien who has been on Earth for the past 400 years, blah blah, long story short he falls for an actress. You Who Came From the Stars has to be one of the best titles that has ever been given to any show of all time. So just go watch it
Boys Over Flowers
This drama made Lee Min-ho a star. To be honest, I haven’t watched this one, but people keep on talking about how much they loved it, so to keep myself from looking like a fool, I put it on the list. Anyways I read the the plot on Wikipedia, and it says that it spins the modern-day Cinderella tale of a poor but spunky schoolgirl at an exclusive academy who attracts the interest of four rich and handsome guys of the school collectively known as F4.
Signal is very unique and different from the other dramas on this list, from the very first episode. It has you guessing what will happen next with the story being about detectives from past and present communicating through a walkie talkie to solve crimes that have been long unsolved.
Have you imagined switching bodies with other another person, well this drama is just for you. The story is about a stunt-woman and CEO whose lives are changed when they swap bodies andlearn about each other’s lives. Although they do fall for each other, that just creates a love rectangle and yup that’s all I’m going to share ;).
