The Combination of Art and Science

By Breanna Phillips

Chemist and artist Tyler Thrasher crystallize all types of specimens, such as scorpions, shells and even skulls and insects. His work with crystal synthesis started with his love of chemistry. He took advanced chemistry classes in high school and began exploring nature in college. He takes any chance to find materials for his artistic designs in caves and hiking. Tyler only uses animals that are already dead, the outcome from this is spectacular! His creations can take anywhere from two weeks to four months to complete. The unique pieces are sold on his website. His work is absolutely amazing in my opinion, go look at it and see for yourself how undeniably beautiful it really is.
