This Monday, our very own boys basketball team faced 4th seed Monett for their first round of districts. The team previously faced Monett in a regular season game, where McDonald county lost with a score of 78-67. With McDonald County being seeded 5th in the district tournament and Monett at 4th, the odds were stacked against them.
Senior, Boston Dowd stated, “We knew if we did what we had to do and executed the game plan well that we would come out with a win”, and the Mustangs did just that, ending the game with a score of 58-51.
This win will mean a lot, as it advances them to the semifinals where they will play the first seed Webb City. The semifinals will also take place in Webb City, on Wednesday, February 27th. If they win, they will advance to the district championship.
Cooper Reece says that “playing the one seed is a great opportunity to display all of our hard work, and hopefully come out on top.”
This is a great achievement for our boys, and they deserve our support.
