The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a two-vehicle collision in Martin County on Tuesday afternoon resulted in four fatalities. Just after 12:30 p.m., according to the authorities, a collision occurred at the intersection of Northwest Baker Road and Southbound Federal Highway.
For almost six hours, both directions of the Federal Highway were closed due to the fatal accident. The Federal Highway northbound lanes were open just before 6:30. Soon later, the southbound lanes were reopened.

According to FHP spokesperson Indiana Miranda, the collision happened as a Telsa car approached the junction of Baker Road while driving southbound on Federal Highway in the inside lane.

In the left turn lane, a Chrysler minivan was moving north on Federal Highway when it turned left onto 14th Street. According to FHP, the front of the Telsa struck the right front of the minivan. The Tesla tipped over and started burning. On the intersection’s shoulder, the minivan came to a final stop.
2004-born man who was the Tesla’s driver perished in the collision. A 2003-born female passenger in his vehicle was brought to the hospital but later passed away as a result of her wounds.
A man from 1952 who was driving the minivan perished in the collision. A female minivan passenger who was born in 1949 also passed away. Officials had to reroute northbound traffic south of the Manuel Bridge as they looked into the accident.
The Martin County School District had earlier in the day announced that the accident would cause delays for many of their school buses.
