Barack Obama Has Shared His Latest Summer Playlist

The former US president has released a new album and shared his summertime playlist. Obama, a devoted friend of the Queen herself, gave Beyoncé the top place and had the first track off her eagerly awaited next album, Renaissance, “Break My Soul,” open the mix. There were additional songs by Wet Leg (“Angelica”), Bad Bunny (“Ojitos Lindos” ft. Bomba Estéreo), Kendrick Lamar (“Die Hard”), and Harry Styles (“Music for a Sushi Restaurant”).

His Outlaws: Bruce Springsteen, who contributed to the Born in the USA podcast, was chosen this year for “Dancing in the Dark.” Obama also included some timeless songs on his playlist, including Aretha Franklin’s “Save Me” and Al Green’s “I Can’t Get Next to You.” Obama described his selections on social media, saying, “Every year, I get delighted to share my summer playlist because I learn about so many new artists through your answers. It serves as an illustration of how music truly unites people.

Obama announced his summer reading list, which included some of his favourite books of the year thus far, before he shared his summer tracks. The titles chosen included Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel, The Candy House by Jennifer Egan, Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson, and The Family Chao by Lan Samantha Chang, all of which were listed in Entertainment Weekly’s 10 finest books of the year thus far.
