Chelmsford Crash Closes I-495 on New Year’s Day: Following a significant collision just before the exit for Route 3 in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, a section of Interstate 495 was closed Sunday afternoon. A crash occurred on the southbound side of the highway, close to North Road.
According to a witness, a pickup truck collided with a sedan, causing the sedan to span several lanes of traffic, as reported by WCVB. The witness claimed that after the collision, helpful people utilized water to help put out a minor fire that had developed in the sedan’s engine.

A picture taken at the scene showed at least one car on the road’s right shoulder with significant damage. According to state police, the northbound side of the highway was closed so that a medical helicopter could land.
