Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty Release Date, Trailers, Story, Update

Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty Release Date: Do you need to know when Phantom Liberty will be released? Developer CD Projekt Red describes the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion as a “spy-thriller” and promises to place you in a new area of Night City. We’ll be snooping around and battling armed troops as V, a Cyberpunk for hire, accompanied by our new friend, FIA Agent Solomon Reed, played by Idris Elba.

The Game Awards 2022 gave us our first look at the expansion, but there is still a lot we don’t know about this future RPG. By the end of the year, there’s a high chance Phantom Liberty will be on our list of the top PC games based on CD Projekt Red’s previous titles. Here is what we currently know about Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty based on the initial trailers.

Phantom Liberty’s Release date

The Phantom Liberty is slated to go on sale in 2023. The expansion is scheduled to release in 2023, as indicated in the Cyberpunk 2077 DLC announcement article dated September 2022. Given the extensive time window, we probably shouldn’t anticipate Phantom Liberty in the first few months of the year.

Players on the PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S can only play Phantom Liberty. This expansion won’t be available on PS4 and Xbox One like Cyberpunk 2077 will. You must purchase Phantom Liberty if you want to play it because it is being marketed as DLC rather than a free update.

Phantom Liberty’s Story and setting

The Pacifica District, located southwest of the Cyberpunk 2077 map, appears to be the setting for at least some of the DLC, as evidenced by the first Phantom Liberty trailer’s depiction of a sizable stadium. Additionally, it gives a view of the Biotechnica Flats, a greenhouse.

Though CD Projekt Red has claimed that most of the Phantom Liberty DLC are set in a new area of Night City, don’t anticipate too many recognizable landmarks. The second teaser’s depiction of Dogtown suggests that it will undoubtedly play a significant role.

Regarding the plot, Militech appears to be a significant player. In both trailers, an aircraft disaster is hinted at being a potential catalyst for a Pacifica cleansing. Rosalind Myers, for example, might have been one of the passengers. A speculative guess would be: V is assigned to find out who crashed that jet after being semi-forcefully recruited as an undercover agent by a NUSA politician gone rogue; instead, he ends up trying to stop a massacre in Dogtown.

Trailers for the Phantom Liberty

V is heard swearing to “faithfully serve the New United States of America” in the first Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty trailer, which may indicate that V is going to begin a new job as a government agent. Alternatively, V may work for the enigmatic woman seen at 0:28, who appears to be dictating the oath on a freelance basis.

Given her aura of being a “powerful person,” this unidentified woman is probably a prominent politician. She might be Rosalind Myers, President of the NUSA, as some Cyberpunk 2077 enthusiasts have speculated online.

A second enigmatic woman can be seen at the trailer’s conclusion standing atop a stadium as a jet crashes to the ground. She is likely an Engram, a computer representation of a person’s consciousness based on the red glitching effect.

Playing Phantom Liberty

New Phantom Liberty gameplay components are not well known. Still, we anticipate finding brand-new weaponry and cybernetics and using a new whip, a shotgun, and a katana in three brief fighting segments from the first teaser.

The second teaser shows a Ripperdoc fitting V with a cybernetic faceplate, which might be another sneak peek at a brand-new gameplay feature. This could be a disguise because the DLC’s main plot revolves around the theme of espionage. But it might be more if the faceplate magically bestows any extra skills.

News about Phantom Liberty

Phantom Liberty is the only significant expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 that CD Projekt Red has confirmed, according to a YouTube remark. Then again, anything could happen if Phantom Liberty turns out to be a huge success.
