Des Moines Police Shoot, Murder Armed 16-year-old: After an armed standoff early Monday, a youngster was shot by Des Moines police and is now dead. Following a DMPD press statement, police responded to a domestic dispute complaint at a residence in the 400 block of East McKinley Avenue shortly after midnight.
The adult caller said that his 16-year-old relative was carrying a weapon, according to police. When the police came, they discovered the adolescent with other family members and still armed. Police said they engaged in lengthy conversations with the suspect, pleading with him to lay down his weapon to defuse the situation.
The adolescent suspect allegedly pointed the pistol toward the cops at some point when several officers fired their firearms, striking him. Police claim they started CPR on the 16-year-old before medics arrived and took over. Then, he was brought to the hospital, where he subsequently passed away.

According to the police, the event was captured on the officers’ body cams. All police officers, who have been with the police force for five years, have been put on leave due to a significant incident. Residents informed local five that police sirens are a common sight near the neighborhood’s apartment buildings.
Eder Moreno stated, “There are times when you can just get home from work or school, and then there will be like two police cars in front of those apartments.” However, despite sporadic incidents, the neighborhood is often quite quiet.
Living here is pleasant, according to Moreno. “No complaints. Excellent neighbors. Pretty relaxed. It’s a fantastic area to live in.” The Des Moines Police Department has experienced its first officer-involved shooting of 2022 with this incident.
