After putting out the last official chapter of its manga earlier this year and announcing that a special chapter would come out later this year, the popular anime series Dr. Stone has now announced that Season 3 will come out in April 2023. In season three, which is called “Dr. Stone: New World,” genius teenager Senku will try to find a way to bring the rest of humanity back to life, rebuild civilization, and find out what caused the disaster that turned everyone into stone.
Yusuke Kobayashi (Food Wars) is set to return as Senku’s voice actor, and Makoto Furukawa (One Punch Man) is set to return as Taiju, Senku’s big friend.
Here is a summary of the series for those who haven’t caught up yet:
“One fateful day, all of humanity turned to stone. Many millennia later, Taiju frees himself from the petrification and finds himself surrounded by statues. The situation looks grim until he runs into his science-loving friend Senku! Together they plan to restart civilization with the power of science!”
In the meantime, a new special episode about the new main character, Ryusui Nanami, an expert sailor and the heir to the Nanami Conglomerate, will air later this week. You can watch the opening movie below. Keep an eye out for more news.
Dr. Stone Season 3 Plotline
In the “Dr. Stone” Season 3 trailer, you may have thought you’d stumbled across an episode of “One Piece,” but rest assured, the teaser was only signalling that Senku and his buddies will be embarking on an oceanic journey. According to ComicBook.com, the anime will then adapt the “Age of Exploration” storyline, which follows the manga’s lead. There are many more inventions that they come up with as they go along to assist them get humanity back on its feet..
Now in its fourth year and showing no indications of stopping any time soon, the manga has been continuing strong since 2017. Writer Riichiro Inagaki made the remark in an interview with Anime News Network “I’m not sure how the story ends, and that’s not a problem with the story itself. Although we have a basic notion of how the story will end, this trip has taken us three steps forward and two steps back at times, but I’m still eager to see it through. I can assure you, though, that I will never extend it only for the benefit of the company.”
The third season of “Dr. Stone” may not be the end of the story for viewers, but we’re confident that the show will continue for many more seasons
