Florida Man’s Body Found Months After Hurricane Ian: According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the body of a 72-year-old man who has been missing since Hurricane Ian devastated the Florida coast last year was pulled from a submerged yacht on Friday.
In the Matanzas Pass, James Denny Hurst was last observed aboard the sailboat “Good Girl.” On Friday, human remains were discovered as a dive crew from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office collected the sunken boat.

On Sunday, a coroner positively determined that they belonged to Hurst. Hurst’s daughter Shannon Vaughan told WBBH, “I mean, you know, we all know it’s him.” “There isn’t a shadow of a doubt. He did, as I stated, reside on the boat.”
Hurricane Ian, a category four storm that made landfall in late September, claimed the lives of at least 147 Floridians. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement reports that Lee County, where Hurst’s body was discovered last week, was hardest struck, accounting for 70 fatalities.
