Injury Crash on Northbound I-880 in Oakland Cleared: Early on Friday, I-880 northbound near Oakland was shut down for hours due to an injury accident involving an overturned tractor-trailer, which backed up traffic on the Nimitz Freeway.
On the southbound I-880 near Fruitvale Avenue in Oakland, just north of High Street, the collision was first reported at roughly two in the morning. An overturned big rig and two other vehicles were involved in the injury collision, which blocked all lanes and caused CHP to issue a severe traffic alert.

The colossal rig towing a trailer struck a black Infinity in the far right lane, overturned across both lanes, and was later confirmed by CHP. The black Infiniti driver claimed that when the large rig hit, they were outside the car checking a tire. Both drivers sustained minor injuries.
According to authorities, northbound traffic was detoured off the motorway near High Street. By six in the morning, all lanes were still blocked, even though workers had managed to the right the enormous rig. Due to the accident, trailers and tractors are currently permitted to travel I-580 westbound in Oakland until further notice.

Just after 6:30 a.m., the CHP reported that the accident had been cleaned, and all lanes had been reopened. Drivers are encouraged to utilize other routes to avoid the area and to plan for continued delays.
