Lake Elsinore Shooting Kills Riverside Sheriff’s, Deputy Darnell Calhoun: Darnell Calhoun, a deputy sheriff for Riverside County, was shot and killed at Lake Elsinore; the suspect was taken into custody. At that point, the suspect and the second deputy got into a shootout. According to reports, the suspect was taken to the same hospital and is now in critical condition. During the struggle, the suspect was shot as well. Regarding the suspect’s identification, nothing further was revealed.

There was a substantial law enforcement presence outside the house where the event occurred, including a Bearcat. The ongoing disturbance ended around 6:15 p.m., according to deputies, and they started cleaning up the residence.
