Wave 2 of the DLC tracks for Mario Kart 8 are coming out this week, and fans have already been asking about the best way to buy them. The good news is that people who own a Switch can get to the new courses in two different ways. This gives them some choices before everything goes live. Since wave 2 of Mario Kart 8 DLC has so many classic tracks, it’s easy to see why so many people are waiting for it to come out.
WHEN IS THE MARIO KART 8 DLC RELEASE DATE?
The Mario Kart 8 Wave 2 DLC Tracks will be available on Thursday, August 4, 2022. The new content is only available on Nintendo Switch, so to access and buy the new Booster courses, you must have a handheld console. Nintendo hasn’t said when the new courses will be available, so fans will have to keep an eye on the Nintendo eShop.

The Japanese games company warns that DLC isn’t added to games in a regular way, so it’s hard to know when the latest course might come out in the UK. As the release date gets closer, more news might come out, and fans will want to make sure they have everything they need to get to the new content.
HOW MUCH DOES THE DLC FOR MARIO KART 8 COST?
Nintendo has confirmed that the new wave 2 songs coming to Nintendo Switch consoles later this week can be played in two different ways. You can buy the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass from the Nintendo eShop for $24.99, or you can download it as part of a paid membership to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.
The second choice won’t add anything to your bill, but you’ll be able to play all eight courses that will be added in six waves until the end of 2023. The main difference between the two options is that with the Online expansion pack, you can play all the courses until your membership ends, but if you buy the Booster Course Pack, you will own it forever.
The confirmed Wave 2 DLC tracks for Mario Kart 8 are the following:
- New York Minute (Tour)
- Mario Circuit 3 (SNES)
- Kalimari Desert (N64)
- Waluigi Pinball (DS)
- Sydney Sprint (Tour)
- Snow Land (GBA)
- Mushroom Gorge (Wii)
- Sky-High Sundae
Here is the full list of the eight songs that will be released on August 4:
NEW YORK MINUTE , you race around a huge city at night on a course that twists and turns. It looks like a lot of fun for sure.
SNES MARIO CIRCUIT 3: Ah, memories. I raced on this course when I was younger, and it’s great to see it back.
KALIMARI DESERT is another great game, but this time it’s for the N64. When Mario Kart 64 came out, I was blown away by how great the graphics were and how big the course was.
SPRINT TOUR OF SYDNEY – This sunny course is based on the mobile game and takes you past some of Australia’s most famous landmarks.
DS WALUIGI PINBALL is a fast-paced DS classic in which you race around a track that looks like a pinball table.
GBA SNOW LAND is a good song from the Game Boy Advance.
WII MUSHROOM GORGE is a colourful dash that looks like the countryside and, as you might expect, has a lot of mushrooms.
SKY-HIGH SUNDAE – This new part of Mario Tour is exactly what you’d expect: it has twists and turns in a sickly desert setting. Why wouldn’t you like it?
