According to Vogue, Naomi Biden, the granddaughter of Vice President Joe Biden, got married on Saturday and was inspired by old Time magazine editions that featured previous weddings at the White House. But her White House nuptials to Peter Neal were off-limits to the press, infuriating White House reporters whose grouses grew Tuesday when Vogue magazine’s exclusive pre-wedding coverage was published online.
Ashley Parker of the Washington Post tweeted, “I spent four years covering the Trump WH and two years covering the Biden WH.” “It’s remarkable because they both lie, even though they do so in very different ways. While the Biden team is overly sweet by half, the Trump team was blatant.”
The Biden White House is being accused of being sneaky over a wedding ceremony, in contrast to the Trump White House, which habitually lied to reporters from the platform about Donald Trump’s words and track record.

On November 18, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre tweeted the Vogue article and her remarks to the media: “They have decided to have a private wedding. It’s a family affair. It is — and we will abide by Naomi and Peter’s requests.”
In her news briefing on Tuesday, Jean-Pierre said that neither Vogue nor any other media outlet had access to the wedding itself. To “provide adequate time” for many of the photographs to be in the public eye, Vogue withheld their photos from the public until Tuesday.
The meeting wasn’t about national security or the economy, Jean-Pierre declared. A young couple’s wedding was being celebrated with their friends and relatives. Since 1800, the White House has only hosted 19 weddings and four celebrations, including one for President Grover Cleveland and 9 for first daughters, according to Vogue.
According to Vogue, the groom, Peter Neal, bought the vintage Time magazine issues for his future wife on eBay. The marriages of Tricia Nixon in 1971 and Luci and Lynda Johnson, the daughters of Lyndon B. Johnson, in 1966 and 1967, were featured in the magazines. Naomi told Vogue that we really wanted to honour it since this place is so beautiful and rich in history.
The private ceremony defied convention for “the people’s house,” according to reporters who argued for access during the news conference the day before the wedding. Because the news media was only given restricted access to the proceedings, another reporter pointed out that there is a historical record of prior White House marriages.

According to a POLITICO report from October, Jill Biden is close friends with Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue. Throughout the 2020 presidential race, Wintour, a proponent of Democratic politics, invited her buddy for a virtual chat.
Melania Trump, the former first lady, criticised Wintour’s choice to feature the first lady on the cover of Vogue in 2021 and charged the publication with bias. Trump was not the first lady when she appeared on the Vogue cover in 2005. Hunter Biden and Kathleen Buhle, who divorced in 2017, are the parents of Naomi Biden.
