The band posted on Instagram to make the announcement, calling it “awful news and horrible timing… for everyone concerned” and said they were “truly sorry” and looking into other options to play. “We shared your excitement for tonight’s fantastic Pearl Jam concert in Vienna. Ed Vedder, our singer, suffered injury to his throat as a result of the adverse weather conditions at the last outdoor location outside of Paris (heat, dust, and fire smoke) “The band composed. His vocal cords have not yet recovered despite visits to the doctor and treatment.
The band reiterated their “very, very sincere regret” to “those who work so hard to put on the events as well as those who sacrifice their valuable time and energies to attend” and said that tickets would be returned at the point of purchase.
