Police: 16-year-old Girl Died, 3 Teens Injured in Old Brookville Crash

Police: 16-year-old Girl Died, 3 Teens Injured in Old Brookville Crash: Three adolescent passengers and the Nissan’s 16-year-old driver were hurt, one gravely, when the car lost control and hit a tree early on Sunday in Old Brookville, according to Nassau County police.

According to a police press release, the collision happened at 3:37 a.m. on westbound Chicken Valley Road close to the intersection with Brookville Lane. A Nassau police doctor declared the motorist, whose identity was not immediately known, dead at the scene, according to authorities.

Ages 14, 15, and 16 of three male passengers were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. On Sunday afternoon, the 16-year-old was in critical condition. The condition of the other teenagers was rated as stable. Their identities were kept a secret. According to authorities, the crash is still under investigation.

The deceased girl is the fourth adolescent to pass away in a car accident on Long Island in less than a month. Cem Gunes, 16, of Holtsville was operating a 2009 Infiniti G37 when it was involved in an accident on December 21 at 9:43 p.m., according to Suffolk police.

On the spot, Gunes was declared dead. Landon Kromhout Auditore, 18, of Mastic, and Taylor Beltramini, 17, both of Moriches, were among his passengers who perished.
