Police: 2 Killed, 1 a Pedestrian, in Garden State Parkway Crash

Police: 2 Killed, one a Pedestrian, in Garden State Parkway Crash: According to New Jersey State Police, a Jeep collided with a Chevrolet SUV that was stopped in the northbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway around milepost 97.7, killing two individuals.

Jerome Digiovanni, 75, and Ronald Devingo, 57, both residents of Toms River, died in the proper lane collision that included their cars at roughly 1:31 p.m., according to State Police Sgt. Philip Curry.

A northbound Jeep Wrangler struck Digiovanni’s Chevrolet Equinox as it was stopped in the right shoulder and right travel lane with Devingo standing on the left side, according to Curry.

The hit caused fatal injuries to both Digiovanni and Devingo, according to the state trooper. Diving may have been a passenger in the Equinox who got out, or he may have just stopped to help Digiovanni. It wasn’t immediately apparent.

According to the New Jersey State Police, Christopher Mulholland, 24, of Belmar, driving the Jeep, suffered minor wounds. According to Curry, two right lanes of the Parkway in Wall were shut down due to roughly two and a half hours after the collision. The accident is still being looked into.
