Sawyer Scarborough Accident: Helicopter Crash Victim’s Wife Speaks

Sawyer Scarborough Accident: Helicopter Crash Victim’s Wife Speaks: David Scarborough, 32, and Lisa Scarborough are married. According to his wife, he had recently finished a two-week shift and was on his way home to spend Christmas with his family, which would have included his pregnant wife, Lacy.

For the family, the holidays were already melancholy since they had recently lost their son Sawyer, who drowned accidentally one day after his second birthday, and because Lacy is currently expecting another boy. The Coast Guard was notified at around 8:40 a.m. that a corporate helicopter with four personnel on board had crashed in the Gulf of Mexico as it was leaving an oil platform.

The pilot and the three oil rig workers on board were sought after for hours by members of the Coast Guard. They terminated the search and rescue operation at 6:15 p.m. Lacy Scarborough hoped that all of the passengers aboard the helicopter could be taken back to their homes and family.

“I don’t know where he is, if he’s still out there, in the sea, the helicopter, or anywhere else; I’m just lost in the mystery of it all right now. There is no doubt in my mind that if David isn’t returning home, he is unquestionably in heaven with our Sawyer. We have overcome enormous obstacles in our relationship to get to where we are today and to get through all of this, the horrific accident, and now this, “Lacy Scarborough said.
