William Penn High School Shooting Investigation Continues Tuesday morning in New Castle, William Penn High School was the scene of a shooting that Delaware State Police are still looking into.
Police stated that no threats were in motion and that no injuries had been reported. On the exterior of the school, the troopers did find a firearm. Tuesday shortly after 11:30 a.m. saw the implementation of a lockdown, during which time the children remained confined to their classrooms until regular operations resumed at about 12:50 p.m.
To facilitate the full criminal investigation, the Colonial School District announced that today, January 11, and tomorrow, January 12, will both see a closure of the school. The two days’ pre- and post-school activities, sports, and events will all be rescheduled for a later time.

Along with Monday being a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, the school is also closed for pupils on Friday in observance of Professional Development Day. Beginning on January 17th, classes will resume.
When classes start on Tuesday, there will be more assistance accessible for students who require any kind of assistance, as counselors will be on hand for anyone who wants to speak to one.
