Somerset Motorcycle Accident: Police Officer Dead After the Crash, Second Victim Identified

One of the two people who died in a motorbike accident in Somerset early on Saturday morning has been identified by Seekonk police as an off-duty police officer. A motorbike that crashed at the Route 103 rotary was carrying patrolwoman Kourtny DeForitis.

When they arrived, officers discovered two victims lying on the road next to a motorbike and a car, according to the authorities. Officer DeForitis was transported by Somerset EMS to a nearby hospital where she was subsequently declared deceased. The man was confirmed dead at the site.

DeForitis, who was employed by the department for just under three years, attended the Cape Cod Municipal Police Academy in 2021, according to Seekonk police. The department said:

“Kourtny had a particular fondness for the youth of Seekonk and could be found playfully interacting with them in the schools and at community events, usually with a bright smile on her face and a contagious laugh,”

Glover left behind three children, DJ, Eli, and Lily, as well as his wife, Amanda, according to a GoFundMe appeal, “whose lives will be forever changed as they grapple with tremendous grief.”

Glover was a skilled carpenter, and an enthusiastic motorcycle rider, and his daughter could always count on him to act as a ‘pony transporter’ for her performances. When it was necessary, he did not hesitate to spend significant periods of time driving.

A report of a car hitting a phone pole at the Route 103 rotary was made to Somerset Police just before 1:15 a.m. Officers arrived and saw a motorbike and a car on the road with two victims lying inside. On the spot, Glover’s death was confirmed.

DeForitis was brought to a nearby hospital by Somerset EMS, where she was subsequently confirmed dead. According to the investigation, Glover’s motorbike entered the rotary in the wrong direction, causing it to crash into the car.

No charges will be brought in relation to the collision, according to Gregg Miliote of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
