A dislocated thumb was diagnosed as Fields’ hand injury. He tried to reposition it but couldn’t get a good hold of the ball. Fields, who is in his third season in the NFL, has missed games due to shoulder, hip, knee, and rib problems in the past. The Bears’ coach, Matt Eberflus, stated that an X-ray was done and that, while it was negative, the team would wait for the results of an MRI to determine the degree of the damage.
Fields’ injury is a huge setback for the Chicago Bears, especially given his previous health issues. Tyson Bagent, his replacement, took over but struggled on his debut NFL drive, losing the ball and having it returned for a touchdown by the Vikings.
Despite their best efforts, the Bears were unable to defeat the Vikings. Fields’ recovery and the extent of his hand injury will be continuously examined, and the team’s decision on his playing time will be dependent on his development. Meanwhile, the Bears, who are now 1-6, will need to recover and adjust to the challenges posed by Fields’ absence on the field.
