Ryan Reynolds is expected to return to the role of Deadpool sometime this summer, just in time for the start of production on the much-anticipated third installment of the Deadpool film series, which is scheduled to take place in 2019.
Shawn Levy, the filmmaker who will be working on his third movie with Ryan Reynolds following Free Guy and The Adam Project, stated in December 2022 that filming should begin “on or about” May 2023, therefore, let’s keep our fingers crossed that this timetable is maintained.
If the possibility of Deadpool joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe wasn’t already thrilling enough, we also know that the third film will see Hugh Jackman reprise his role as Wolverine. Both Reynolds and Jackman have been enjoying themselves by making fun of each other over the official title of the third installment in the series.
At first, it was reported that Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin, the authors of Bob’s Burgers, had been engaged to pen the script for the threequel. However, it would appear that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who were responsible for writing the scripts for the first two films, are working on the script for the third film.

The release date for Deadpool 3 has been announced, and in light of that, here is all you need to know about the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut of Deadpool… and Wolverine.
Deadpool 3 Release Date
It was originally planned for Deadpool 3 to be released in theatres on September 6, 2024; however, due to Blade needing to move back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe release calendar in October 2022, the date has been pushed back to November 8, 2024.
If we’re talking about the MCU, this means that the threequel will probably be the first release of Phase 6, unless Blade manages to beat it to the punch with its release in September 2024. As was already reported, production on the third installment of the X-Men film series is scheduled to begin in May 2023, and Hugh Jackman has already begun intensive physical preparation for his return to the role of Wolverine.
Deadpool 3 Plot: What will Deadpool 3 be About?
Reynolds has dropped hints that the third installment of the franchise will “look to go in a completely different direction” “Often, they reboot or change a character maybe like four movies too late.” Even if the original director of Deadpool indicated that the threequel did not require an R rating in order to be excellent, the movie will still be rated R, so there is no need to be concerned about that.
In February of 2021, Feige provided confirmation that the R-rated franchise Deadpool has “established” itself as a successful business. After Reese and Wernick joined the production of the third installment, they made a commitment that the film would not be “Disney-fied.
“They are gonna let Deadpool be Deadpool, you know? It’s not like any particular joke may be the one that they say: ‘You know, that’s too far’. That could happen, but to this point, it’s been nothing but support,”
Reassuring Reese.
It is currently unknown how the movie’s tie to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) will factor into the continuation of the series as depicted in the first two movies or if it will, in effect, be a soft reboot. Does this indicate that the ability to travel through time will play a more significant part in Deadpool 3?
When we last left Negasonic Teenage Warhead, she was fixing Cable’s time machine so that Deadpool could go back in time and correct the wrongs that had been done in the past. One of these wrongs included a career decision that Ryan Reynolds made that was both terrible and amusing.
As a result of a plot tease provided by Reese, we are under the impression that the third film will focus on Deadpool’s introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and will either directly address the fact that he is now in an entirely different universe than before or retcon his status as a member of the MCU.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for fish-out-of-water. Deadpool is a lunatic at the center of a movie. To drop a lunatic into a very sane world, it’s straight butter. It’s going to be really fun,”
Reynolds had tweeted in January 2021, before Jackman’s involvement was announced, that the third movie was going to be a Rashomon-style road trip with Deadpool and Wolverine before the Disney-Fox merger. This was before Jackman’s involvement was confirmed.
Is it going to turn out like this in the end? The plot of Rashomon centered on a number of characters recounting the events that led up to the death of a samurai in the woods. Is it possible that Wolverine is the samurai who passed away in this scenario?
In addition, Feige has placed a relatively high standard for the film by comparing it to other Marvel Cinematic Universe threequels.
“How do we elevate it in the way we’ve been able to with Civil War, and Infinity War and Ragnarok?”
“How do we elevate it in the way that we’ve been able to do with Civil War?”.
“It’s very fun to be in the world of the Ryan Reynolds show.”
Deadpool 3 Trailer: When will the Deadpool 3 Trailer Arrive?
Since production on the third movie hasn’t even started yet, there won’t be a trailer for quite some time, we’re sorry. The film hasn’t even started shooting yet. When filming does finally begin, we have no doubt that Reynolds will have a humorous social post planned out to share with fans.
On November 8, 2024, audiences will be able to see Deadpool 3 for the first time in theatres. Both Deadpool and Deadpool 2 are currently playable in their entirety on Disney+.
