Emerson Teer Obituary: When did She Passed Away?

Emerson Teer, originally Catherine Alexius, was a cherished person who ded on February 19, 2013, at her residence in Wilmington, North Carolina. She was born on January 10, 1918, to her late parents John Nelson Alexius and Mabel Davis Alexius in Norfolk, Virginia.

Emerson Teer was renowned for her commitment and kindness throughout her life. She had a great influence on the lives of individuals she came into contact with in addition to being a dedicated wife and many people’s friend.

Emerson was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose presence made her loved ones and family happy. She was survived by her children, William Parsley Emerson, Jr., Joan Emerson Teer and her husband Page Teer, Catherine Alexius (Cae) Emerson, and Terre Henry, all of whom resided in Wilmington.

Her grandchildren, William Emerson Teer and his wife Alison Lukes Teer of Alexandria, Virginia, Michael Page Teer, Jr. and his wife Lillian Smith Teer of Wilmington, John Alexius Teer of Chapel Hill, William Parsley Emerson III, and Henry Clay Emerson, were also fond of her.

Emerson Teer lived a life dedicated to learning and giving back to the community. She graduated from Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and stayed involved with the school even after graduating.

She demonstrated her commitment to a number of groups, taking part in programs and events at St. James Parish, the Cape Fear Country Club, The Surf Club, and the Carolina Yacht Club. She was also an ardent supporter of The Ministering Circle and The Catherine Kennedy Home, serving as president of the boards of both organizations while a member.

Emerson Teer’s dedication to safeguarding historical history led her to join the North Carolina chapter of The National Society of Colonial Dames of America. Particularly during the summers at Wrightsville Beach, when she treasured time with her loved ones, Emerson Teer was appreciated for her kind hospitality.

She preferred playing bridge, and she read voraciously, cultivating her love of books. During her latter years, Dorothy Hankins and Arlene Brown provided Mrs. Teer with outstanding care and devotion, which was greatly valued by her family. During her final few weeks, the Lower Cape Fear Hospice also provided sympathetic care.

On February 19, 2013, Mrs. William Parsley Emerson, formerly Catherine Alexius, of Wilmington, North Carolina, pssed away quietly. She was the daughter of the late John Nelson Alexius and Mabel Davis Alexius and was born in Norfolk, Virginia, on January 10, 1918.

Her husband, William Parsley Emerson, predeceased her. Mrs. Emerson served many people as a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dependable friend.

Her grandchildren include Michael Page Teer, Junior and his wife Lillian Smith Teer of Wilmington; John Alexius Teer of Chapel Hill; William Emerson Teer and his wife Alison Lukes Teer of Alexandria, Virginia; William Parsley Emerson III and Henry Clay McQueen Emerson, also of Wilmington.

She is survived by her daughters Joan Emerson Teer and her husband Page Teer and Catherine Alexius (Cae) Emerson; and by her sons William Parsley Emerson, junior, and Fraternal twin brothers Harold Davis Alexius and John Nelson Alexius, junior, predeceased Mrs. Emerson.

Mrs. Emerson earned her degree from Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where she was a longtime active alumna. She belonged to the Carolina Yacht Club, the Surf Club, the Cape Fear Country Club, and St. James Parish. Mrs.

Emerson also served as president of the boards of The Ministering Circle and The Catherine Kennedy Home, where she was a devoted member. In the State of North Carolina, Mrs. Emerson had belonged to The National Society of Colonial Dames of America.

She was a kind host and loved going to Wrightsville Beach in the summer. In addition to reading voraciously, Mrs. Emerson enjoyed playing bridge.
