According to Miami-Dade police, a gunman killed a math teacher at a South Miami-Dade residence before killing himself. Although the shooter’s identity hasn’t been made public, police say one of his victims was a teacher at Doral Academy K-8 Charter named Maria Cruz de la Cruz.
Police were called to a Palmetto Estates residence in the 9900 block of Southwest 165th Terrace at 4:20 p.m. There they discovered a man who had shot himself in the head. Next to him, a gun was lying on the ground. On September 3, 2023, Helen sent out a tweet:

Cruz and a man who survived the shooting were taken to Jackson South Medical Center by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue as authorities started to look into the tragedy as a murder-suicide. For more details read the full post.
