Skyler Olmstead Obituary: 18 Year Old Snowmobiler Killed in Gloversville Crash

Following a snowmobile accident, an 18-year-old Montgomery County male was murdered in Gloversville on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, according to Gloversville police. When police arrived soon after 9 p.m. at the Route 30A area, they discovered Skyler R. Olmstead of Fonda unconscious, a little distance south of the intersection of South Kingsboro Avenue.

He was taken to Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville by firefighters and emergency medical personnel after they got on the scene, where he was declared dead at about 9:50 p.m. A severe winter storm that slammed the area on Tuesday coincided with the incident.

A snowmobiler has been involved in at least four incidents in upstate New York so far this year. According to Times Union, the accident is still under investigation by Gloversville police, they stated that it is thought no other vehicles were involved.

The Fonda-Skyler On Tuesday, March 14, 2023, 18-year-old Ronald Olmstead suddenly away. cherished child of Sara Musto and the late Randy Olmstead Jr. Amsterdam, Netherlands, April 12, 2004. Skyler graduated from Fonda-Fultonville Central School in 2022 as well as HFM Boces and Adirondack Academy.

Skyler enjoyed motocross competitions, snowmobiling, wrestling, and hunting. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his loved ones. All those who knew him will miss him dearly.

Skyler is survived by his loving family, mom, Sara Musto (Anthony); sisters, Tayler Smith and Ashlyn Costello; brother, Logan Musto; grandparents, Ronald Sr. and Kelly TenEyck, Randy Sr. and Jan Olmstead; aunts & uncles, Carrie Wolford (Brent), Becky Leotta (Mike), Mindy TenEyck, Ronald TenEyck Jr., Duane Mathias, Zach Olmstead (Dana), Gennessee Tomlinson (Greg) and Tasha Yudin (Roman); his girlfriend, Shelby Opalka; several friends that he considered family as well.

The Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, located at 171 Guy Park Ave. in Amsterdam, had calling hours for Skyler on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

On April 1st, at 2 p.m., there was a memorial service at the VFW in Fonda, located at 2495 NY-30A. Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY, 12072, has been given the task of making arrangements for Skyler.
