The National Weather Service has canceled the tornado watch for Franklin County and the adjacent areas. The wind advisory for Columbus is in effect until Monday at 10 p.m. Sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph are expected, with gusts to 50 mph.
The National Weather Service received a report of a possible tornado strike in Germantown, Ohio, about 15 miles southwest of Dayton, on Monday afternoon.

The rain in the Columbus area is predicted to taper off about dinnertime. School buses in Columbus City Schools, the largest district in the state with almost 47,000 kids, were rerouted to a secure area until the storm passed so some children might get home late.

At 9:31 p.m. on Monday, AEP customers in Franklin County reported 419 outages. In contrast, those in Fairfield County reported 1,533 outages, those in Licking County said 133, those in Pickaway County reported 41, and those in Delaware County reported 5.

What’s the Distinction Between a Tornado Warning and a Tornado Watch?
Tornado watches are issued by the National Weather Service when there is a potential for severe weather, such as tornadoes “severe thunderstorms and tornadoes are possible in and near the watch area. It does not mean that they will occur. It only means they are possible.”
Severe weather watches are issued for broad areas to alert the public of the impending danger.
On the other hand, a tornado warning is issued when a tornado has been observed or is expected to occur soon. Experts advise people in the alert area to take urgent action and seek refuge.
