On Sunday, there was a shooting in the Falcon area of Colorado, United States, which left one person dead and four others injured. According to a statement released by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, responding deputies located multiple individuals who had been shot at the scene. All told, five people were injured to varied degrees and rushed to hospitals.
One of the injured victims later died from their wounds in the hospital. Detectives with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office have begun their inquiry. On Sunday at approximately 12:50 a.m. (local time), the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center received many calls reporting the sounds of gunfire.
According to a statement released by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, On February 5, 2023, at around 12:50 a.m., numerous 911 calls were received by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center on reports of hearing multiple shots being fired.
“The shots were heard in the 12200 block of Point Reyes Drive, a Meridian Ranch neighborhood located in Falcon, unincorporated El Paso County.”
According to a statement released by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, detectives are still trying to piece together what led to the incident. Multiple individuals are being sought, and the carjacking on Potter Drive on Saturday may not be related to the shooting, according to investigators.

During the inquiry, the sheriff’s office asked residents to remain indoors and away from any windows or doors. However, CBS News reported that the ban was lifted at around 4:30 a.m. (local time).
According to the CBS News story, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has urged nearby homes for any security footage from the time of the event. The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted in their investigation and hunt for suspects by the Colorado Springs Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
