In a Collision in Delaware County, a Mother and Two Children Died

Two of the mother’s children were killed when the car they were riding in went off the road in southern Delaware County on Sunday afternoon. According to Delaware County’s chief deputy, a Chrysler PT Cruiser was travelling north in the 10000 blocks of South County Road 600-W just after 4 p.m. when it left the east side of the road, hit a culvert, and flipped multiple times before coming to rest on its side in a field.

The driver, who was 54 years old, was rescued from the burning PT Cruiser by bystanders, but the passenger, who was 30, and her two children were killed. A car carrying a mother and her two children went off the road in southern Delaware County on Sunday afternoon, killing all three people inside.

Chief Deputy Jeff Stanley of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office said that just after 4 p.m., a Chrysler PT Cruiser travelling north in the 10000 blocks of South County Road 600-W left the east side of the road, struck a culvert, and flipped multiple times before coming to rest on its side in a field.

A bystander aided the 54-year-old driver out of the burning PT Cruiser, but the 30-year-old female passenger and her two children perished in the blaze. Ball Memorial Hospital at IU Health was conducting autopsies on Monday. As of yet, the victims’ names had not been made public while their families were notified.

On Sunday, emergency crews from south of Indiana State Route 67, including Salem Township, and Delaware County, were dispatched to the scene.
