Victoria Pedretti Shames a Creepy Well Known Actor on Her Birthday

In a troubling Instagram post published on Thursday (23 March), Victoria Pedretti, best known for carrying two seasons of Netflix’s You on her shoulders, recounted an encounter with “a well-known actress.” In a caption under a n*ude mirror selfie she posted, Pedretti said that at her birthday party last year:

(Accoording to Jezebel)

“a ‘well known’ actor walked up to me at a party and said ‘I’ve jacked off to you so many times.”

Pedretti said (as reported by HITC)

“shocked by the audacity. This is AFTER he expressed how much he RESPECTED me as an actor.”

The post, which Pedretti has already deleted, coincided with her birthday on Thursday (23 March) and appeared to be written as a love letter from the actress to her body.

“Wtf is partial nudity? Happy birthday to me”

She then gave a “shout out” to her body and expressed that she sometimes “[enjoys] modesty,” and sometimes she doesn’t. But in either case, she said (as reported by Jezebel)

“it’s a joke to think that my own modesty will protect me from any disrespect I experience as a femme body.”

In addition to making a crucial point, Pedretti’s photo and caption marked the anniversary of an offensive and demeaning encounter with an unknown influential guy. S*exual harassment, contempt, and abuse have little to do with how we carry ourselves as women. That concerns power and a society that frequently ignores women’s discomfort.

According to Pedretti, neither “modesty” nor any other decisions women may make can shield us from harassment and other creepy behavior. It is unclear which moments the male actor was alluding to, but it doesn’t matter.

The part of Joe Goldberg’s (Penn Badgley) primary love interest-turned-almost-murderer in the film You made Pedretti renowned. Badgley asked the creator of You if he could completely forgo filming s*ex scenes this season after more recently discussing his unease with the practice.

Filming love scenes with Badgley in 2021 was described as “weird” by Pedretti, particularly after leaving the pandemic lockdown. As Pedretti maintains a low profile and rarely discusses her personal life, her revelation this week is terrifying.
