Who was Eric J. Lawrence?
Throughout his life, Eric J. Lawrence had an amazing radio career. During his stay at UCLA, he started out as a DJ at KLA. He started off as the station’s sports guy and ticket giveaway guy and then worked his way up to music director, general manager, and even game show host. During this period, he fell in love with the field of music librarianship, which he went on to study after graduating from UCLA in 2012.
Soon after, in 2013, he became one of the most trusted members of KCRW’s music library staff thanks to his extensive knowledge of music history and his ability to locate nearly any song requested by DJs or listeners. His knowledge of everything from indie rock to jazz and beyond made him an invaluable member of the KCRW music library crew, and he also occasionally filled in as a guest DJ on various shows over the years.
