Cody Ince Obituary: How Did He Pἀss Away?

On Saturday, July 15, 2023, Cody John Ince, 23, went away unexpectedly at his house close to Grantsburg, Wisconsin. Tammy and Marty Ince welcomed Cody on December 18, 1999, in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin.

Cody is survived by his fiancée Olivia Tucker of Grantsburg, Wisconsin; his parents Tammy and Marty Ince of Luck, Wisconsin; his sister Carly Ince and her fiancé Drew Alderman of Frederic, Wisconsin; his maternal grandmother Lola Royer of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota; and his paternal grandmother Betty Ince of Luck, Wisconsin; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

His grandfathers Eugene Ince, Les Royer, Gary Vandelinde, and cousin Adam Peterson died before him. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, July 22, 2023, officiated by Rev. Angie Kutney, after which a celebration will continue at the BrowTine Event Center, 1361 100th Street, Amery, Wisconsin.

Cody’s family will welcome guests on that day from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Unity High School Gym, 1908 150th Street, Balsam Lake, Wisconsin 54810. Hunter Pederson, Landan Paulsen, Levi Paulsen, Jack Heflin, Corey Sandberg, and Drew Alderman will serve as honorary pallbearers.

How Did Cody Ince Pἀss Away?

Former Iowa Hawkeye offensive lineman Cody Ince pssed away at the age of 23. The cause of deἀth wasn’t made known right away. Ince made the Dean’s List and was named Academic All-Big Ten in the spring semester of 2021, according to ABC station KCRG. Ince played in 29 games for Iowa between 2018 and 21 and started 10 of them.

Kirk Ferentz, the head coach of Iowa, said in a statement:

“I am incredibly sad to hear about Cody Ince’s sudden passing. Cody was a tremendous young man, valued teammate, and contributor to our program. He loved football, fishing and hunting, and believed in the importance of family and friendships. Cody was just beginning this next chapter of his life and was about to be married. Mary and I are heartbroken for his fiancée, his family and all his friends who knew and loved him. All of us in the football program – his coaches and teammates – are mourning his loss.”

The Athletic’s Scott Dochterman, who covers Iowa, wrote that Ince had a chance at having a “legitimate NFL career” before njuries caused him to give up football a year before his college eligibility expired. Tyron Tracy Jr., who began his undergraduate career at Iowa before moving to Purdue, paid tribute to Ince on his memorial page. Tracy wrote:

“I have had the honor of knowing and playing with Cody while I was at the University of Iowa.”
