Dahrran Diedrick Cause of Deἀth
Running back Dahrran Diedrick, a star at Nebraska who had a successful 10-year career in the Canadian Football League, pἀssed away on Saturday. He was 44. The Associated Press reported that cancer was the cause of deἀth.

The player’s family and the Montreal Alouettes, who played with Diedrich in the backfield and won two Gray Cups, confirmed the player’s pushing to news outlets. Deidrich was an important part of the club.
Diedrick was born in Jamaica and raised in Toronto. The 6-foot, 225-pound player was Nebraska’s first Canadian scholarship recruit. As a junior in 2001, he started for the Cornhuskers and rushed for a Big 12-leading 1,299 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Diedrick assisted Nebraska in making it to the national championship game of the 2002 Rose Bowl, where they lost to the University of Miami 37-14. Former Nebraska coach Frank Solich said to ESPN:
“It’s really sad. Great kid. Huge heart in everything he did. I enjoyed being around him, I enjoyed coaching him and I think the players enjoyed being around him. He was a warrior. The perfect I-back to have a fullback in front of you. You could run I formation all day long with that combination. He was a true I-formation tailback. He’d give you everything he had.”
Calvillo, who played quarterback for Montreal and was a teammate of Dahrran for eight years, said in a statement:
“I won two championships with Dahrran and he was a very important piece of our team. He was always in a good mood and got along with everyone in our dressing room. He leaves us far too young.”
In 2004, Diedrick participated in his lone NFL game for Washington. He joined Edmonton in the CFL the next year, where he won his first Grey Cup. Diedrick joined the Montreal team in 2006 and played for the Alouettes until 2013. He won the Grey Cup in Montreal in 2009 and 2010.
