We regret to inform you that Jack Loso, a resident of Robbinsdale, Minnesota, passed away tragically on December 2nd, while he and his sister Bailey and cousin Mary were visiting Minneopa State Park. How Did Jack Loso Die?
Loso attended Minnesota State University as a student. At the base of a waterfall in the southern Minneopa State Park, Jack Loso perished in a landslide. Just before 5 p.m. on December 2, 2023, Jack R. Loso, a resident of Robbinsdale, and other family members were visiting the park when the disaster happened.
Situated at the bottom of a forested ravine, Minneopa Falls is the site of the accident. On Saturday, December 2, 2023, right before 5 p.m., a 911 call came in. The teenager was dead when rescuers found him. Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office shared the following on Facebook following the incident:
“An update to the death investigation at Minneopa State Park – Falls Area. The victim has been identified as Jack Robert Loso, 19, from Robbinsdale, MN. Loso was visiting the Minneopa State Park with family members at the time of the accident.”
“The incident remains under investigation at this time. No more information is able to be released at this time. The Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office offers its condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Loso during this difficult time.”

There is no trail to the foot of the falls till further notice. The park built a fence around the path that leads to the base of the falls and at the top of the stairs that descend to Minneopa Creek.

How Did Jack Loso’s Loved Ones React to His Death?
The loss of Jack Loso had a profound effect on his friends and family. They paid their respects to him via social media posts. Karen Kozak, Jack Loso’s instructor, shared on Facebook:
“My heart is just shattered. Jack was a former student of mine. I taught him in music class at Robbinsdale Spanish Immersion from 1st grade-3rd grade, had him in orchestra in 4th grade and also had him in All District Orchestra. He played viola. I’m hugging my boys tighter tonight. What a heart wrenching tragedy.”
