In May 2017, Avi Kaplan gave notice that he was departing the group. September of that year was his last performance. Matt Sallee began playing bass with Pentatonix in October 2017. February 2018 saw him become a permanent member.

Avriel and the Sequoias is a new band that Avi Kaplan founded. Along with them, he started to issue an EP. As a solo artist, he has released numerous singles sans The Sequoias. He is currently performing his new songs live on tour.

The members of Pentatonix may be socially isolated, but they still collaborate on music. Scott Hoying and Mitch Grassi are among the musicians on that song. On the June 2020 release of At Home, both sang covers.

They parted ways, one of them. Avi Kaplan declared on May 12, 2017, that he would be leaving Pentatonix following their planned tour. He claimed that even while he enjoyed being a part of the group, the group’s schedule was difficult for him to manage and caused him to spend less time with his family in a video announcing his resignation.
