On Monday afternoon, an accident on Interstate 294 claimed the life of a driver, according to Illinois State Police.
At around 2:20 p.m., a collision occurred in the southbound lanes close to milepost 33, according to police.
While attempting to enter the counter-flow streets, a pickup truck ran into the crash attenuator. After then, the pickup turned over onto its side.

According to police, the pickup’s driver perished in the collision. The second car that was involved in the crash barely sustained slight damage.
At around 6:55 p.m., the motorway was closed and reopened, according to authorities. Authorities withheld additional details about the collision until later.
