County: POLK According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, a multi-vehicle accident in the county caused one fatality and numerous serious injuries.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center received a call of a three-vehicle crash with injuries on Highway 65 just north of 28th ave in the town of Alden at 2:56 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023.
EMS, Fire, and Law Enforcement were all called to the location. Initial investigations and witness accounts suggested that a five-person car was moving quickly north on Highway 65.
After cresting a rise, this vehicle lost control and crossed the center line, colliding with two southbound automobiles. Three of the five passengers from the northbound car were ejected, and one person was declared dead.
Two injured individuals with significant injuries were taken by air ambulance. Vehicle occupants traveling in the south sustained light to moderate injuries. The identity of the fatal crash victim will be made public later.
